I love this, Nick! What is there to be disappointed in? Nice contrasts and the light reflected on the ground draws the viewer in. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!
I love how you show us the outtakes. It helps to bring more pieces of the puzzle to complete your mindset for any one day. It's like slice of your mood.
A like both today. Maybe the solitary tree more, with it's dejected isolation and white-trash background (at least to me ;)). Still, those highlights in the pavement reflection are to die for!
This mysterious avenue of trees has universal appeal, reminds me of looking to the future. You hope that it is going to be bright, but you can never be sure. This image, with the apparent bright line along the path and being in black and white captures that mood perfectly. One little suggestion would be to stand a small person just before the end of the avenue of trees, in silhouette, so that the lit up pathway is all around them.

Heavens gates!
Seriously... You do this for a living, don't you?
A pleasure, as always.

I do so look forward to the day when I can be disappointed with shots like these. They look fab to me!

the choice shot is awesome and i really like the processing of the 2nd shot ... with the big white border it has a real feel of an old pic!
